This week in Media class I learned that there are many more books in my section then I originally thought, and I now know this because all of the books in the check-in box were emptied out (a lot of these books were from my section). Another thing I learned in Media class is that I need multiple realistic, science, and historical fiction in my section info sheet despite it saying that I only needed one. I also learned that there is no limit to what I can include in my section info sheet.
This week in Media class I learned that the books with only two letters on the spine (one above the other) are put on a separate shelf than the books with more letters. Another thing I learned is that numbers go before letters when ordering certain things, such as library books. I also learned that the graphic novels we make reading counts tests for are chosen by the students, not the media teacher.
This week in Media class i learned that my Media class will eventually trade graphic novels and take their Reading Counts tests on them. Another thing I learned is that Mrs. Holleman has never done the graphic novel RC "project" that we are doing until this year. One thing I learned in my reading is that their is an Ancient Egyptian mythological god named "Hapi".
This week in Media class I learned that my shelf (CAP-CUR) has a lot more books than I originally thought. I also learned that about 50% of students are not meeting their weekly quota in Media. Another thing I learned while taking a Reading Counts test was that if you exit a test it gives you a score and you cannot retry for 24 hours, but if you close the tab then it will act like you never took the test i the first place.
This week in Media class I learned how to move new library books to the display table in a way that shows the most books. Another thing I learned in Media class is that you might not get a decent grade (or any at all) if you do not tell Mrs. Holleman that your section is finished. In my reading this week, I learned that many animals in the reptile family can unhinge their jaws.
This week in Media class I learned that you have to stamp classroom sets of books three times for each book (the first page/cover, the back, and somewhere in the middle with a mostly blank or completely blank page. Another thing I learned was how to 'Discard' books (Writhing "Discard" on both the first and last pages of the book for the entire set, then moving them into the back room).
Things I learned about Book Fair this week is that Pennies count as negative points, while everything from nickels and higher count as positive. I learned during my reading this week that Alexandria is believed by some to be where the "fall of Ancient Egypt" took place and/or ended.
This week in Media class I learned that Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus is a book in my section. Something I learned from my reading this week was a lot about Egyptian culture, such as how "The House of Life" was a real thing (supposedly where Egyptians performed magic) in Egyptian culture and many of the mythological tales told in the peak of Ancient Egypt's rule.
This week in Media class I learned that we are required to know all the books, authors, and series' in our section. Another thing I learned is how to search for specific genres, authors, and lexiles of books on Destiny. We also learned that a New York Times Bestseller does not count as an award.
